Popular musician, Timi Dakolo, whose wife is currently in a controversy over her alleged rape has reacted to the recent allegation by a former staff of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo raped her.
Concourse News had reported that the former staff of the church who pleaded anonymity on Thursday said Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo raped her sometime in 2017 at the pastor’s house.
At the time, she said she was an employee of COZA who worked directly with the pastor and was also a member of the church.
According to her, Pastor Fatoyinbo asked her to come to his house outside Nigeria on the particular day (a Thursday morning) to take some instructions and go for an errand but the scenario changed after he stopped discussing the church and grabbed her towards him.
Reacting to the recent interview, Timi Dakolo took to his Instagram page, describing the interview as truth and not an attack on the church.
According to him, the revelations are not to attack the church but an ‘attack against an individual using the church as an avenue to ruin women.’
“Then another person found her voice and boldly steps forward. This time a former church member and staff is here to tell her truth. This isn’t about the church, it has never been, so don’t get it twisted.
“Nobody can fight the church of God. We are against individuals using the church as an avenue to ruin women. Let us not expect to do what God expects us to do! This truth is not going anywhere. Must we continue in evil so that grace may abound? God, forbid!
Aides of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo whose appointments have not been renewed since the expiration of the last administration on May 29 are in a fix, PREMIUM TIMES reports.
Appointees of the president, who occupy various positions in the presidency, were expected to leave office at the end of Mr Buhari’s first tenure on May 28, 2019.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that appointment letters issued to all the presidential aides had actually given May 29, 2019, as the termination date of their appointments.
Mr Buhari has not renewed the appointment of any of the aides since taking a fresh oath of office over a month ago.
Without asking them to leave their posts, the president has allowed the coterie of aides to continue serving the government, thereby generating confusion.
The status of the presidential aides has generated controversy with lawyers describing the aides’ staying on as illegal.
Over 100 aides serving Messrs Buhari and Osinbajo and their spouses are affected by the logjam, including Mr Buhari’s spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu.
A source at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said only three appointees in the presidency are not affected by the glitch.
Those not affected are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Mr Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and the deputy chief of staff who serves Mr Osinbajo, Adeola Ipaye.
No Pay
Checks by this newspaper indicate that civil servants in charge of finance have since May 29, 2019, written off presidential aides from the payroll, thereby depriving them of salaries, allowances and travel estacodes.
Presidential aides, who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES last week, confirmed that the last pay they got was for May, which is considered their last month in office.
A civil servant, who is not in a position to speak on record, also confirmed that none of the political appointees was paid in June.
A special assistant to the president who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday said the non-payment of salary was not expected, as appointees felt their mandates would have been renewed before the end of the month.
“Well, actually our letters said our position would be terminated by May 29, it is there. We are still operating but there is no pay of any kind,” he said.
Aside salaries and routine allowances, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the affected aides are also no longer entitled to travel allowances and estacodes.
This manifested last week when Mr Osinbajo was preparing to travel for a meeting in the United States.
The vice president was reportedly taken aback when he was told that his personal aides could not be provided for by the government to join him on the trip.
Civil servants handling his office said they could not pay the aides estacodes as was the normal practice.
The piqued Mr Osinbajo had to device personal means to take care of the few aides he travelled with.
This constraint may also affect Mr Buhari’s scheduled trip to Niamey, Niger Republic, this newspaper learnt.
The president is expected to travel with a very small number of personal aides who are political appointees.
“Apart from the ADC and CSO, the personal physician and the chief of protocol, no other aide is sure of traveling with the president,” a source at the presidency said.
Other Privileges Affected
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that protocol officials in the presidential villa have also stopped filing notice of meetings and other memos to all the aides, rendering presidency activities, largely an informal affair.
While the aides still attend to official functions and meetings, their usual privileges are being cut down.
Notice of meetings and schedules of the president and his vice are no longer shared with most of the appointees who used to get those documents in the past.
Their inclusion in trips has also been cut down, except on the special request of the two leaders, and at non-official capacity.
‘Sorting out mess’
The spokesperson of the SGF’s Office, which is the office in charge of appointments of aides, Willy Bassey, declined comment on the matter insisting that the issue was not in the purview of the SGF’s office.
“It is the duty of the Revenue Mobilisation Commission. Reach out to them,” he directed, rebuffing all attempts to explain his office’s connection with the subject.
But a senior official in the office of the SGF, who is not authorised to speak with the media, said the logjam is being sorted out “as the government has commenced process of reappointing some of the aides”.
“It is only when their appointment(s) is renewed that they can continue to benefit from the pecks of office,” the senior official said on Wednesday.
One of Big Brother Naija 2019 housemates, Thelma, has come under attack over her accent in the reality show.
Thelma, among other housemates, brought into the house a different ‘American accent’.
However, Thelma’s case seems to be the worst as hers seems not to be genuine, which has generated reactions from Nigerians online.
Recall that some Nigerians described choice of housemates in the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show as “more foreign than Nigerian.”
Respondents said that it was puzzling how Manchester-based Mike, London police officer, Khafi and Ike, who said this was his first one in Lagos, made the cut, while thousands of Nigerians flooded audition centres in February.
Viewers felt it was unfair to have people risk their lives to the audition and then pick Nigerians in the diaspora.
Here are comments of Nigerians gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:
@DonJazzy “Thelma has a different haqccent for each question.”
@Dfitnessbeaut1 “Thelma’s fake accent just

@Akanni “Very stupid thelma, Be forming accent she sounds like omo ibadan trying to form yankee.”

Lampard has signed a three-year deal with the Blues worth £4million-a-year with hefty bonuses, especially for getting into the Champions League.
“It gives us great pleasure to welcome Frank back to Chelsea as head coach. Frank possesses fantastic knowledge and understanding of the club and last season, he demonstrated he is one of the most talented young coaches in the game.
“After 13 years with us as a player, where he became a club legend and our record goalscorer, we believe this is the perfect time for him to return and are delighted he has done so.
“We will do everything we can to ensure he has all the support required to be a huge successChelsea director, Marina Granovskaia, told the club’s official website.
Still fending off the backlash of Busola Dakolo’s allegation, a former staff of COZA narrates how Biodun Fatoyinbo raped her in his house.
A former staff of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, has again accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her.
The lady who hid her identity and her face while narrating her story in an interview with Y!TV said the incident happened in 2017 at the pastor’s house.
She said she was an employee of COZA who worked directly with the pastor and was also a member of the church.
According to her, Pastor Fatoyinbo asked her to come to his house outside Nigeria on the particular day (a Thursday morning) to take some instructions and go for an errand but the scenario changed after he stopped discussing the church and grabbed her towards him.
She said: “Biodun Fatoyinbo raped me sometime in September 2017 at his apartment outside Nigeria. We were discussing in his office on a couch before I knew it, he dragged me towards him.
“He took off my zipper, one hand putting me to the couch; at that point, I didn’t know what to do because I had to fight sexual abuse as a teenager. I felt I had put myself in the space.
“Everything moved quickly from there and then he started trying to pull me into a hug and started kissing me which I found shocking. I had known him as a spiritual leader and I was about to witness the opposite of everything that I thought he stood for.
“I was too shocked. It was a couch. I don’t know whether I should hold on to something. I remember telling him continuously ‘you can’t do that, you can’t do that.’
“I just kept telling him to stop but he kept telling me to relax. If you know him, you would know he is a weak person but has the appearance of strength, he was not moved by my pushing and did not relent to stop, after that he took off his pants and did what he wanted to do. As soon as that was over and he saw I was in tears, he apologised and he was sorry and didn’t mean to but I was just interested in getting out of there.
“After the incident, I still had to work with him, it happened in the last quarter of 2017 but I still stayed till July 2018. All that time, I already had a disconnect in the church because I was just there because this is what I was committed to.
“He flipped from sweet amazing person who was my mentor to something else. I remember that for the first time I saw a completely different person
“I saw him as someone who showed you what you want to see. When you meet him or interact with him, who you see is that charismatic leader who tells you to aspire, go out and do amazing things, he tried to appear like someone who understands the word but the person I met that day was completely different even though he apologised, I vowed not to talk about it again.
“After that time, he went back to Nigeria, I was not in Nigeria at that time, I still had to do things for the church despite the fact that I felt I no longer belong here.
“Pretty much, I didn’t go to his apartment to have sex with me but for work. I told him to stop, he raped me and I didn’t give my consent, as a matter of fact, I never saw him as anything than a pastor.
“I stayed in the church because I thought they were trying to do things differently but then, they were been deliberate, they are aware of how much power they have, they know how much people adore them and how important and witty their words are and they exploit them.
“There is a culture of silence in the church, its’ supposed to be a safe place, but it is not.”
Adamawa-North lawmaker, Senator Elisha Abbo, has been drawn into a fresh scandal as a photojournalist, Olumuyiwa Owolabi, has accused him of assault and breach of agreement.
Owolabi told The PUNCH that Abbo not only assaulted him but got the police to lock him up in Adamawa.
He said he first met Abbo in 2014 during the run-up to the June 2014 Ekiti State governorship election which Ayodele Fayose won.
Owolabi, who was the official photographer of Fayose during the election, said he met Abbo in Ekiti State and Abbo told him that he would like him to do some jobs for him.
He said, “The viral video of Senator Elisha Abbo assaulting a young lady isn’t a new to me as I was one of his victims of assault years back.
“I met him during the campaign of former Governor Ayodele Fayose while I was the official photojournalist assigned to Fayose during the electioneering campaign and later head of photojournalists to his deputy after the election.”
The photojournalist said Abbo, who was contesting for senator on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the time, entered into a contract with him to cover his political activities at the cost of N2.8m.
He said on August 13, 2014, he travelled with Abbo to Yola, Adamawa State, from Abuja by air and they lodged at Lelewa hotel for weeks while campaigning for the primaries which was eventually won by Senator Binta Garba.
The photojournalist said he travelled along with the senator from Adamawa to Mubi, Vintim Muchala to Mubi and later back to Yola after he lost the senatorial primary.
Owolabi said, “On approaching Senator Abbo to enforce the contract agreement we had, he refused to pay. He ignored several pleas for him to just give me part of my money.
“On the fateful day we wanted to travel together to Mubi for the last campaign, Boko Haram invaded the place prior to the day we ought to have travelled. Due to the attack by Boko Haram, I began to plead with him that I needed to leave the state.
Olumuyiwa Owolabi, the photographer
“After several text messages and calls put through to him were ignored, I had no choice but to sit in front of his room where he was lodged at Dansoho Hotel, Yola. This was around 5pm.”
The photojournalist alleged that when Abbo saw him, he got so angry that he began to beat him, slapping him repeatedly.
Owolabi said Abbo quickly called a policeman and told the cop that he was a Boko Haram suspect and should be arrested immediately.
The photojournalist further stated, “As soon as he came out, I began to plead with him that I had to go. The next thing he said was that I was embarrassing him. He started beating and slapping me. He told his orderly to put me inside the pickup truck. He told them to point their guns at me and that he would kill me and tell people I was a member of Boko Haram.
“When I heard that statement, I was shocked because I didn’t know anybody there and I couldn’t speak their language fluently. No one could come to my rescue when he brutalised me, causing me to sprain my ankle.
“I began begging him to just leave me and let me go that I would leave the money for him because of his action.”
He alleged that Abbo’s police escort took him to Kaliwa Police Division around 2am with the instruction that he should be shot dead if he failed to comport himself.
Owolabi said Abbo had broken his phone at the time and so he was locked up in the police station without any means of contacting anyone.
The photojournalist added, “He had damaged my phone I couldn’t contact anybody; he tore my clothes and I was virtually naked.
“That very night, on getting to Kaliwa police station, I begged the investigating police officer to please let me use his phone to talk to one of my relatives. That was how I called one of my brothers that pleaded with the IPO to assist me out of the situation.
“The DPO came the following morning and begged him (Abbo) to give me transport fare to go back to meet my family. Till date, he hasn’t paid me the money.”
The photojournalist, who pleaded with Nigerians to help him, also shared photos of private chats he purportedly had with the senator.
Attempts to speak with the senator proved abortive as calls put through to his telephone indicated that it was switched off while a text message was not responded to as of 7am on Thursday.
After the news broke that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly had “stepped aside” in the wake of rape accusations against him, people called for thorough investigations of the allegations to ascertain the truth. I agree with them, but I must also add that any truth-finding mission has to include his wife, Mrs Modele Fatoyinbo.
The way Mrs Fatoyinbo features in the accusations against her husband makes me wonder what she knows and why she protects her husband with such vehemence. She has been thrusting out her chest to take bullets on his behalf and literally using her body as both a moral cover and for the deflection of the attacks on him. Does this woman trust her husband that implicitly or is this about some psychological power dynamics that railroad her into the act?
During the church service on Sunday where she preached after the case first broke, she was quick to assert his innocence by saying he could not have raped anyone even as an unbeliever. According to a report by The PUNCH, at that point, even the husband had to snatch the microphone from her probably so she would not incriminate him further with her chattiness.
On Monday, she reiterated his innocence and insisted that nobody would take his place. She even sent a curse in the direction of the “strange sons and daughters” sitting in their church. Meanwhile, when the insinuations of the husband’s philandering started about a month ago, some people, who claimed to be church members, said that she was aware some women were ogling her husband and she had to form “sexual security” around him.
In one of the stories told about her husband’s philandering, the accuser claimed that during Pastor Fatoyinbo’s bid to sleep with her, he said some uncomplimentary things about his wife. I wonder if she read that and what she thought of it.
So, is Mrs Fatoyinbo overplaying her role as an ideal wife who has to cover her husband’s alleged weaknesses or this is more of her having an unshakeable trust in her husband? When Busola Dakolo told her story, one of the things that interested me was the part where she claimed that Mrs Fatoyinbo, a new mum at the time, asked her to help her with the baby. For some odd reason, a man allegedly rapes a girl on a Monday and the following Sunday, the wife chose that same person to come over to their house and help her with the newborn baby. What experience was a teenage girl supposed to have with such a task that could have been left for someone older or experienced? It was when the pastor was taking her back home that the alleged second rape happened.
I find all of these coincidences in the story curious. I think it is not enough for us to call for the pastor to submit himself to a thorough investigation, but the wife needs to answer some questions to ascertain whether she is an active collaborator or another pawn in a game of psychological manipulation and abuse. The truth matters in this kind of case and that is because it is not possible to have a situation where a single person will have multiple accusations of abuse of power, trust and privilege laid against him without also having a village of enablers who make it happen.
VIDEO: So This Happened (Ep1) reviews Biodun Fatoyinbo’s rape allegation and more…
No serial abuser, especially one in a position of power and privilege as a pastor has, ever works alone. He needs the support of those around him to abuse victims without consequences perpetually. These accomplices not only watch the crime happen, but they bury the bodies too. We saw how that happened in the case of Chukwuemeka Ezeugo aka Rev King – how his church not only protected him but also traumatised his victims. Left to them, the man will still be walking free and assaulting poor women with his anointing. As we also see with the cases of scandals in the Catholic church, when you cover up sex abuses to protect the image of the church, you end up with the institutionalisation of abuse and assault.
That said, investigations should not only involve Mrs Fatoyinbo, but also some of the COZA pastors. The two women, Ese Walter and Busola Dakolo, who have spoken against Pastor Fatoyinbo, told different stories. You cannot but see patterns of alleged cover-ups by his pastors in their allegations. The two women mentioned Pastor Folarin Ogunsola (or Pastor Flo, as they called him) of COZA Lagos chapter. Both Ese Walter and Busola Dakolo’s stories allegedly occurred in different places and even over time, yet the same man’s name featured? That is too much of a coincidence. He sounds like the hit man of a mafia empire, the character that either pays off victims or arranges for them to disappear.
Mind you, this Pastor Folarin has yet to deny a thing since this started. I think he should be subject to a thorough investigation on what he knows and what role he has played in the alleged abuses by Pastor Fatoyinbo. Busola Dakola also mentioned a Pastor Wale Soetan. He too should be questioned on this. If there was a rape and he knew about it but kept quiet or helped to cover up, he has committed a crime for which he should be punished.
Finally, while I must reiterate that Pastor Fatoyinbo remains innocent until proved otherwise, I think he should not be investigated alone. In Nigeria, rape has thrived because bad men do not respect other people’s body autonomy and they arrogate to themselves the right to someone else’s body. At the same time, rape also thrives, particularly in intimate spaces, because some of these bad men enlist their wives. They use them as a decoy, to project the façade of a responsibly married man even though they are predators.
Some women go along either because they are perverts themselves or because they want their husband to be obliged to them for giving him the needed cover to perpetuate his acts. That is how some men have been able to rape their domestic staff and even their own children. Some other women become accomplices because their lives are built around their marriages. If the man should pull the rug off their feet, they will be cast into the dark room of ordinariness. If they are pastors’ wives, they will lose the privilege of being “Mummy in the Lord” to the fawning handmaids of the Lord’s vineyards. It is a frightening prospect and not every woman can muster the courage to walk away.
There is a lot that one can say about pastors’ wives and how they are (willingly) used as a body cover when their husbands face charges of sexual impropriety. When Apostle Johnson Suleman was accused of adultery, he not only whipped out his wife to fight back, but they also jointly made a silly “love video” that beat everything you ever saw in cheap Indian films. A woman with some self-respect would have urged her husband to resolve his issues and not involve her, but what was at stake was a question of power. It should not surprise anyone that when he rewarded her with a gift, he also made a public show of it. He was not just showing his gratitude but also sending a message about the hold he has over her.
Again, I acknowledge that Pastor Fatoyinbo remains still innocent until otherwise proved. I hope he submits himself for an investigation and clears his name. When all of these is over, we should also ask about Mrs Fatoyinbo. What does she know and what is the role she has been playing since all of these started say about her?
Embattled Senator, Abbo, breaks down in tears after the video of him assaulting a lady in a sex-toy shop went viral two days ago.
The senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo, on Wednesday apologised for assaulting a nursing mother, Bibra.
The senator, during a media briefing in Abuja, wept as he apologised to mothers, Nigerians, his party: the Peoples Democratic Party, the National Assembly, his family, the victim and her family as well as all the people who were embarrassed by his conduct.
He stated that he had never been known or associated with assault in the past.
Abbo said regardless of what transpired prior to his expression of anger, he was sincerely sorry and pleaded that all men and women of good conscience should forgive him.
The embattled senator stated that his family and religious upbringing did not allow him to engage in such an uncivilised conduct.
He pleaded for forgiveness before God and all those who felt offended by his action.
Abbo said, “I am not here to tell my own side of the story. It is with a deep sense of remorse and responsibility that I, Senator Ishaku Abbo (SlA), profoundly apologise to all Nigerians, the Senate, the Peoples Democratic Party, my family, friends as well as our mothers — the Nigerian women.
“I personally apologise to Bibra and her family for my action towards her, which has brought immense discomfort to our body polity.”
He added, “l have never been known or associated with such actions in the past. Regardless of what transpired prior to my expression of anger, I am sincerely sorry and plead that all men and women of good conscience should have the heart to forgive me. To err is human, to forgive is divine.

“To the Church of God everywhere in the world, I am sorry. As an ambassador of Christ, much is expected of me.
“Indeed, this episode has taught me a very great lesson both as a private citizen and a public officer, particularly as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon whom public confidence is bestowed.
“Finally, I assure Nigerians, especially the people of Adamawa North of my good conduct at all times.”
Fire broke out in the Ijegun area of Lagos State on Thursday after suspected hoodlums vandalised pipelines belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.
Although the details of the incident are still sketchy, our correspondent gathered that some of the hoodlums were caught up in the explosion and were feared dead.
An eyewitness, Babajide Lawal, said the noise of the explosion woke the residents, adding that casualties have been recorded.
Lawal said, “There is fire incident at Ijegun Last Bus Stop, in fact, no one can move near the place because the whole area is burning. What woke us up was the sound of the explosion and when we came out to observe what happened, we saw the fire burning everywhere.”
Firefighters from the National Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Fire Service were said to have responded to the incident.
The spokesperson for NEMA, South West zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, in a release said the agency had alerted the NNPC management to the development.
“NEMA has also called on the safety unit of the corporation to immediately shut down further supplies through pipeline in order to suffocate the fire.
“It is noted that vandals are responsible for the incident and some of them are affected in the inferno.
“Security agencies have cordoned off the area to restrict access of undesirable elements. People should remain calm,” he added.
An official of the Lagos State Fire Service, Amodu Shakiru, said firefighters were still battling the fire, adding that he could not make any comment yet.

Recall that the YBNL boss broke the Internet on Thursday, March 8, 2018, with the news of his proposal to his longtime girlfriend and babymama, Adebukunmi. Up until the news of the engagement, a number of people weren’t aware nor saw the engagement coming. The couple have been together for the past seven years and it was reported that she had been with him even before the fame and fortune started rolling in.
Aisha had reportedly been in the picture all the while as she was always present at most of Olamide’s shows and tours, so their engagement didn’t come as a surprise to many. The duo welcomed their first son Batifeori Maximilliano Adedeji in 2015. The birth of their son signaled Adebukunmi’s position as a celebrity baby mama. She joined the likes of Sophia Momodu (Davido’s baby mama) and Sola Ogudu (Wizkid’s baby mama) as baby mamas of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities.
They seem to be so much in love with each other and the birth of their second son is just a confirmation that their love is waxing stronger and deeper. Even though, Nigerians have been anticipating their big day ever since the news of their engagement broke the internet. The couple is obviously taking their time but they are keeping us in so much suspense as we await the sound of the wedding bells and hear them say ‘I do’. And now with the birth of the second baby, we are likely to be kept waiting for longer.
As we all know, the news of a baby being born is beautiful news and it does not matter with who or how many times. Please share your thoughts on this with us in the comment section below.
