Police Arrest Lady Who Staged Her Own Kidnap In Lagos

Police Arrest Lady Who Staged Her Own Kidnap In Lagos

An 18-year-old girl has been arrested in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos for allegedly faking her own kidnap to demand ransom from her family, Police said Tuesday.

Ujunwa Offiah is accused of conspiring with her boyfriend to stage her abduction, asking her family to pay 30 million naira (79,336 dollars, 65,500 euros).

She was arrested along with another alleged accomplice, Precious Chukwu, 22, as the ransom money was being dropped, police said.

“This is a case of conspiracy and staged kidnapping,” state police commissioner Hakeem Odumosu said in a statement.

He said Offiah’s boyfriend, an Uber driver and “the man at the centre of this case”, is still on the run.

“We are going after him because he conspired with one of these two ladies, Offiah, who faked her kidnap.”

Odumosu said that after negotiation, the ransom was reduced to 700,000 naira (1,851 dollars).

Kidnapping for ransom is common in southern Nigeria where oil workers, prominent Nigerians, including relatives of sports stars, have been abducted in recent years.

The victims are usually released unhurt after ransom payments.

In June, a 17-year-old girl in southwestern Ogun state was held for faking her own kidnap to demand ransom from her mother.

NRC Announces Commencement Of Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan Rail Services

The Nigeria Railway Corporation on Monday announced the commencement of rail service operations on the Lagos-Abeokuta-Ibadan standard gauge train.

The Railway District Manager, Mr Jerry Oche, made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos.

Oche explained that the newly introduced service provided fully air-conditioned train services in different categories.

He said that the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge train would afford members of the public the opportunity to leave Ibadan for Lagos at 8:00 am and return at 4.00 pm the same day.

“The newly introduced standard gauge trains have finally come to fruition as the service is run using newly acquired coaches and locomotives.

“This service is fast, convenient, safe, and relatively cheap. There is an option for everyone as the tickets are available in Economy to First Class rates.

“The journey time from Lagos to Ibadan is two and half hours which makes more sense going by recent reports of traffic that have characterised Lagos-Ibadan road due to ongoing road construction along that axis,” he said.

Oche said the train services in Lagos would be experiencing new dawn and encouraged Nigerians to embrace the new service.

The district manager said that all major rules and regulations guiding the trains remain, especially the COVID-19 protocols were been observed while on-board.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fare list for the standard gauge railway from Lagos – Abeokuta and Ibadan zone 1-2 are; Lagos to Ibadan 24 seated fare is N6,000, 56 seated fare- N5,000, 68 seated fare – N3, 500, while the 88 seated fare is N2,500.

President Buhari To Address National Assembly On Thursday

President Buhari To Address National Assembly On Thursday
President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari will address a joint session of the National Assembly on his government’s efforts to address the sundry security challenges in the country.

“President @MBuhari will address a joint session of the National Assembly (@nassnigeria) on Thursday, December 10, 2020,” Buharis’s aide on social media Lauretta Onochie tweeted.

The House of Representatives had last week Tuesday invited the President to appear on the floor of the Nigerian parliament to offer explanation on the rising spate of insecurity in the country.

This followed a motion of urgent national importance brought by the Borno State caucus over the killing of farmers in the state.

The Senate had also in a separate resolution asked the President to sack his service chiefs.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was in the State House last week, after which he hinted that Buhari agreed to address citizens via the Parliament on the security challenges confronting the nation.

Nigeria Added To Religious Freedom Blacklist By The United States

Nigeria Added To Religious Freedom Blacklist By The United States

The United States on Monday placed Nigeria for the first time on a religious freedom blacklist, paving the way for potential sanctions if it does not improve its record.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo designated the US ally as a “Country of Particular Concern” for religious freedom, alongside nations that include China, Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Pompeo did not elaborate on the reasons for including Nigeria, which has a delicate balance between Muslims and Christians.

But US law requires such designations for nations that either engage in or tolerate “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom.”

Pompeo notably did not include India, which has a growing relationship with Washington, and was infuriated by a recommendation from the US Commission on International Religious Freedom to include the secular but Hindu-majority nation over what it called a sharp downward turn under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Other nations on the blacklist are Eritrea, Myanmar, North Korea, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Improve Or Face Sanctions
Pompeo removed from a second-tier watchlist both Uzbekistan and Sudan, whose relations with the United States have rapidly warmed after the ousting of dictator Omar al-Bashir and its recent agreement to recognize Israel.

On Nigeria, an annual State Department report published earlier this year took note of concerns both at the federal and state levels.

It pointed to the mass detention of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, a Shiite Muslim group that has been at loggerheads with the government for decades and was banned by a court.

The group has taken inspiration from Iran, ordinarily a major target of President Donald Trump’s administration.

However, Nigeria has been widely criticized for its treatment of the movement, including in a 2015 clash in which hundreds were said to have died.

The State Department report highlighted the arrests of Muslims for eating in public in Kano state during Ramadan, when Muslims are supposed to fast during daylight hours.

It also took note of the approval of a bill in Kaduna state to regulate religious preaching.

While the designations relate to government actions, the State Department has already listed Nigeria’s Boko Haram as a terrorist group.

The militants began an insurgency in 2009 in northeastern Nigeria that has since spread to neighboring countries, killing more than 36,000 people and forcing three million to flee their homes, according to the United Nations.

Under US law, nations on the blacklist must make improvements or face sanctions including losses of US government assistance, although the administration can waive actions.

5 ways to practice delayed ejaculation to have longer sex

5 ways to practice delayed ejaculation to have longer sex

Premature ejaculation (P.E) is by far the biggest complaint that men have about their sexual performance but you can reduce it by practicing delayed ejaculation.

If you’re experiencing this, you don’t have to give up. Premature ejaculation affects most men at some point during their life. The good news is it’s also easily fixed and most men can learn how to delay ejaculation.

Today’s article will highlight some ways you can practice delayed ejaculation since you ejaculate too quickly. Here are 5 ways you can practice delayed ejaculation.

1. Try sexual positions that promotes delayed ejaculation
Numerous sexual positions prevent PE such as spooning, side by side, cowgirl and many more. These are intimate positions that would help you last longer because the penetration is quite shallow. They also force you to move slowly and subtly, since you’re likely to fall out if you get too enthusiastic.

2. Try orgasm delay sprays
Desensitizing creams and sprays temporarily relieve premature ejaculation. They cause temporary local numbness, which delays ejaculation and allows for a longer-lasting sexual encounter. These are now quite effective and inexpensive.

3. Wear a condom to delay ejaculation
Coupled with other benefits of condoms, they can also help delay ejaculation by adding another layer of friction. Even with the thinnest condom, the sensation is reduced a little and this allows men to last a little longer. Always remember that even with the very best brands, the thinner the condom, the more likely it is to tear, so be careful and check the condom mid-sex if you are worried that it might have ripped.

4. Practise female-focused foreplay
Sex doesn’t always have to equal penetration, so switch the focus to more female-friendly foreplay and spend time pleasuring her. Lots of women want that anyway. You can focus on other ways of being intimate with someone there’s no rule to say they have to have penetrative sex.

5. Don’t rush into sex with someone new
A lot of young men worry about dating someone new and don’t want to have the embarrassment of experiencing premature ejaculation. If you’re really worried and don’t feel like you can trust that person to understand, question if you want to have sex with them in the first place. If you aren’t comfortable enough to have the conversation, maybe you aren’t comfortable enough to be intimate with them.

#EndSARS: Policemen, soldiers take over Lekki toll plaza

#EndSARS: Policemen, soldiers take over Lekki toll plaza

Armed policemen and soldiers were spotted at the Lekki toll plaza, Lagos, on Monday morning, in what appears to be an attempt to forestall another round of #EndSARS protests.

Several motorists noted that the security operatives were deployed around midnight.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to calls on Monday morning but the Lagos State Police Command had warned against any planned protest in the State.

A statement issued by Muyiwa Adejobi on Sunday said some unpatriotic individuals and groups were planning to embark on the replica of the recent destructive and violent EndSARS protest on Monday.

The Police, however, added that they are ready to crush such “illegal protest.”

“The Command has reliably gathered intelligence that certain individuals/groups have concluded plans to lure unsuspecting Lagosians, especially youths, into their planned protest which is proposed to commence tomorrow Monday 7th December 2020 at designated locations in the state.

“The Lagos State Police Command wishes to re-echo and remind the general public that the Government of Lagos State, businesses, individuals and security families still groan in losses and pains that the last violent EndSARS protest occasioned. Lagos State is still nurturing the wounds orchestrated by some violent EndSARS protesters and not fit to accommodate such protest for now.

“In the light of the above, the Lagos State Police Command, therefore, warns those who might want to disguise under EndSARS protest to cause another set of mayhem, brouhaha, and violence in the state, to desist from such plans as the police and other security agencies will not fold their arms seeing individuals or groups orchestrating another violence and anarchy in the state,” he said.

“The Command wishes to reiterate that any unlawful gathering, procession, or protest will be suppressed professionally in accordance with the provisions of the law. The police command encourages Lagosians and those who are in Lagos for their genuine engagements, to go about their lawful businesses as all hands are on deck to maintain law and order within the length and breadth of Lagos State,” the statement read.

President Buhari Speaks Tough On Fresh Protests, Vows His Government Will Deal With Any Form Of Hooliganism

President Buhari Speaks Tough On Fresh Protests, Vows His Government Will Deal With Any Form Of Hooliganism

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, said his government will deal decisively with “any act of hooliganism hiding behind peaceful protests.”

He said although his regime believed in the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests, such must be done responsibly.

Buhari stated these while virtually declaring open the Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020 from the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At a time when there are reports of possible repeat of the recent #EndSARS protests, Buhari regretted the violence that trailed the last protests.

He said, “Let me also mention the EndSARS protest which was recently hijacked by hoodlums which resulted in loss of lives and property in many situations across the country.

“I want to reiterate our government’s commitment to the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests.

“However, this must be done responsibly in accordance with the laws of the land.

“I also want to state that any act of hooliganism hiding behind the peaceful protests, will be highly dealt with decisively to ensure the peace and stability of our nation.

“On this note, I commend the Nigeria Army for their efforts to swiftly restore law and order in many states during the last scale of criminality that ensued in the wake of the EndSARS protests.”

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, later released a statement quoting Buhari as describing 2020 as a very challenging year.

He said the President cited the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and its negative impact on almost every aspect of national life.

”Despite this, I am pleased to note that the Army remained resolute in the discharge of its Constitutional roles and in keeping the wealth and welfare of our soldiers a priority.

”The Army’s support of civil authorities in the management of the COVID – 19 pandemic is a case in point.

”Also, the peaceful elections conducted in Edo and Ondo States would not have been achieved without the high level of professionalism displayed by all security agencies, including the Army,” Buhari said at the conference themed, ‘Human Capacity Development in Sustaining Professionalism and Responsiveness of the Nigerian Army in the Discharge of its Constitutional Roles.’

The President also commended the Army for what he called its unwavering commitment towards curtailing the activities of insurgents, armed bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other violent criminals through ongoing exercises and operations in different parts of the country.

He said the Exercise SAHEL SANITY launched a few months ago in the North West states to rid the Katsina-Zamfara corridor of marauding bandits had recorded commendable progress.

Buhari added, “I have also been briefed about the tremendous successes that have been achieved by troops during the ongoing Operation FIRE BALL in the North East.

”I charge you all to sustain these efforts until the full restoration of peace and security in the nation is achieved.”

Buhari also paid tribute to men and women in uniform who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the defence and security of the nation, commiserating with their families, comrades and friends.

”As we pray for the repose of their souls, we must strengthen our collective resolve to address those issues that will make every part of our country a safe and secure place to live and carry out our normal business,” he said.

He pledged that his regime will not relent in its efforts to take adequate care of families of fallen heroes who had paid the supreme sacrifice in the fight against insurgency and other forms of crimes across the country.

At the conference, the President launched the Housing scheme for Next of Kin of personnel of the Nigerian Army killed in action.

”It is in line with this that the Army as part of its welfare initiative and in line with the Federal Government’s housing programme is undertaking the Housing Scheme for families and next of kin of troops that were killed in action in the fight against insurgency and other criminalities in the country.

”I believe this initiative will act as a huge morale booster to the troops on the frontlines as well as project the Army in good light.

”On our part, I assure you that this administration will continue to do all within available resources to provide for your operational and welfare needs,” he said.

Outrage As Thugs Under The Command Of Lagos Monarch Attack Community, Leave Many Residents Injured

Outrage As Thugs Under The Command Of Lagos Monarch Attack Community, Leave Many Residents Injured

A gang of armed thugs on Saturday attacked residents of Iru resettlement community in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, leaving many injured.

Community sources told SaharaReporters that the thugs were acting on the instruction of Oniru of Iru, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.

Those assaulted included Baale Okokuku, Baale Ilabare, Baale Alakoto, and Shamson Ajenifuja of House 112, Iru resettlement community.

It was learnt that they were attacked because they did not get Oba Lawal’s consent and “appease the gods” in their very own settlement.

A resident of the community called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, to caution the monarch.

He said, “All these are part of our human rights under Section 40 of our constitution. It saddened our hearts to see Lawal that we believe in understanding the rules of law and suddenly turn himself to a god with a culture of impunity within six months of his reign.

“After the Baales were unlawfully and forcefully dragged to the palace and later detained at the Maroko Police Station for no reason, the thugs went back and unleashed terror on more residents of the resettlement community.

“One Shewu Okokuku, Hameed, Junior Bashorun, Rokeeb Ajayi, Adewale and a man nicknamed Elewure were among the people assaulted. Some were even hit with charms and some were unlawfully detained at the Maroko station.

“In the light of this act of Omogbolahan Lawal, we boldly and confidently say that the monarch is incompetent; he does not have control over his thugs and he has no regards for the rule of law or the rights of its citizens. They are ready to jeopardise our collective peace for personal and selfish gains.

“We demand justice, a public apology and compensation for all the victims of the Iru resettlement community. We demand that all the thugs involved and sent by Oba Lawal be made to face the law because no one is above the law.”
