Fresh Xenophobic protest rocks South Africa, two stabbed

Two people have been stabbed in a fresh xenophobic attack and protest in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“It’s confirmed that two people were stabbed by MTN Taxi Rank and Jeppe Road in Johannesburg Central Business District and we have informed the Consul General of Nigeria in Johannesburg and the Police in Jeppestown.

“I’m not sure (of their nationalities) as the Police have taken them to hospital. Their identities were not disclosed. The Police are using rubber bullets to disperse them,” he told the PUNCH in a telephone conversation.

He said there was a meeting on Sunday morning, which the Police Minister was supposed to address, adding that a popular South African activist, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, had addressed the South Africans, calling for peace, but that some of the protesters got angry and left.

“Now, they are chanting ‘Foreigners must go,’ with some dangerous weapons in their hands. They have moved from Jeppestown to Braamfontein, even to the CBD Taxi Rank in town. Though we have been monitoring the incident for the past three hours now, Police have not been able to disperse them.

“Our fear is that they may start looting again in the night. We have sent an alert to Nigerians immediately. We used our various social media platforms to do that. We sent it to our structures and the entirety of Nigerians. Most Nigerians are aware of this by now because there are photos and videos, and it is also televised by SABC,” he said.

According to him, a lot of Nigerians lived in the affected area and that some had relocated because last Sunday’s looting and vandalism of Nigerian businesses by South Africans occurred in the same area.

He said “quite a number of our people live around Jeppestown and Fountain. We are talking about Johannesburg, which is very big’ but Jeppestown is close to the eastern part of Johannesburg where those hostile attacks took place. Jules Street is closer to them; it’s a major road they would take to the CBD. MTN Taxi Rank is the major bus stop there. They have virtually captured that taxi rank and Braamfontein.”

Andreescu kills Serena’s dream in US Open, 24th Grand slam elusive

Serena Williams will have to await the Australian Open next January, to achieve her record equalling 24th Grand Slam dream, as Canadian teenager Bianca Vanesa Andreescu denied her again, beating her in two straight sets 6-3 7-5 at the US Open on Saturday.

It was Serena’s fourth loss at a Grand Slam final, since she returned after the birth of her daughter, Olympia in 2017.

It was not Serena’s attempt to match just Margaret Court’s record that Bianca scuppered, she also stopped Serena from winning a fifth US Open title, the first of which she won in 1999, when Bianca was not born.

Serena Williams: again fails to surmount Andreescu obstacle to clinch record equalling 24th Grand Slam title?

Serena Williams committed more than 64 unforced errors in the match that was watched by her friend Duchess Meghan Markle, among many other celebrities.

She had raised hope of a come back in the second set, when she rallied from 1-5 down to equal score at 5-5. Then Serena foundered again, when she served to force a tie break, with Andreescu leading 6-5.

There was no incident, unlike last year’s final with Naomi Osaka. Serena walked to the net to congratulate the Canadian.

Five Things Women Do When They Are Cheating

Five Things Women Do When They Are Cheating

We have been conditioned and programmed to believe that men cheat most however the gap is fast closing. More and more women are stepping out of their marriages and partners for reasons best known to them.

While it may difficult to find out exactly when a woman is cheating, there are certain behaviors she will display that can give her away.

To identify whether she is cheating, below are signs you need to watch out for.

She nags a lot
Granted women can nag and that is nothing unusual. But what you need to watch is her constant nagging. She will nag about everything from the smallest to the biggest issues. If this is happening it could indicative of trouble. She will begin to magnify her partner’s imperfections and if she is smitten by the other man she will use that as an excuse to break up.

The ‘We’re just friends‘ line
This is a classic explanation women used when asked about the other man. If you ask her, pay attention to how acts and answers. If she’s uneasy and refuses to give you eye contact and divulge more, chances are she is seeing him.

She’s distracted
Women are naturally great listeners and attentive creatures. If you notice she is losing interest and barely pays attention to what you’re saying, that means something else is playing on their minds. If she is serious about the other man, chances are her mind is occupied with ways she can leave you.

Backs out of confrontations
When asked directly by her significant other whether she is cheating or not, chances are she will not admit and try everything possible to avoid confrontation. She will remain silent, leave the conversation hanging or turn it around on you.

Loses interest in physical intimacy
No matter how good she was getting it, she will lose interest in having sex if there is another man in her life. In most instances, this could the reason why she will pull away, act cold and distant. Kisses are quick and hugs are short could be a sign she is not interested in intimacy. Reason being she could be getting it elsewhere.

Nicki Minaj Retires From The Music Industry

Nicki Minaj says she’s “decided to retire and have a family” – and told her fans that she loves them “for life”.

The Grammy-nominated rapper is dating a man called Kenneth Petty and has hinted that they’re planning to get married.

As well as music, the 36-year-old has appeared in several Hollywood films and has her own radio show.

She’s not made it clear how many of her ventures she’s retiring from or, even, if she’s being serious.

After releasing a string of mixtapes in the 2000s, Nicki Minaj joined Drake on Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money Entertainment.

Her debut album Pink Friday came out in 2010.

Mega-hits like Super Bass, Anaconda and Starships then established her as one of the world’s biggest female rappers.

Her solo albums have sold millions – but her collaborations list is just as impressive: Ludacris, Usher, David Guetta, Madonna, Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and we could go on.

She’s been nominated for 10 Grammys, won five MTV Video Music Awards and broken the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a solo female artist.

Away from music, her film appearances include The Other Woman and Ice Age: Continental Drift.

Why Women Now Cheat In Relationships More Than Men

Why Women Now Cheat In Relationships More Than Men

When you think of infidelity, you are most likely to associate men with the practice than women. And you would be right… until when you’re talking about millennials.

When it comes to millennials and other young people, the tables seem to be turning already. According to recent findings by the Institute for Family Studies, based on data was from the General Social Survey, millennial women have higher rates of infidelity.

The survey found that 11 percent of women from 18 to 29 state they are guilty of infidelity versus 10 percent of men within the same age range. And it’s not just emotional cheating; the people studied in this research admitted to sleeping with someone other than their partners.

Admittedly, this is an American study with emphasis and attention on American people. But it’s no not far-fetched to conclude that the same [or something very similar] applies around here, too. A poll conducted here on Pulse a while back seems to attest to this. We asked readers to vote in a poll and the results showed that participants think women are worse cheat than men.

But why is this?

Experts think there are a few practical reasons for this shift. There’s the internet, of course, which has made finding a better or different partner easier than it was for past generations. You could hook up with an old flame with a simple search; you can keep up a whole relationship without leaving your house or meeting up for weeks or months on end.

And then there is also a cultural shift which has seen women become less sexually repressed. Women are increasingly willing to push up against prescribed gender norms. The idea that women only want sexual gratification within the confines of a relationship is surely being pushed against.

The fact is that good old-fashioned lust appeals to plenty of women, too. Wednesday Martin, author of Untrue: Why Nearly Everything We Believe About Women, Lust, and Infidelity Is Wrong and How the New Science Can Set Us Free, says that “many experts now believe that women struggle as least as much as men and probably even more with monogamy and that they actually require variety and novelty of sexual experience more than men do.”

The gender gap in adultery is closing and it’s not just about opportunity and possibility; it’s about choice. Apparently, women are leveling up with men in making these bad decisions.
