How Police Officer Raped Me Till Dawn For Not Wearing Nose Mask, Widow Narrates

HUMAN rights defender, Prince Wiro, on Wednesday charged the Police Command in Rivers State to investigate and prosecute its personnel accused of raping a woman for breach of COVID-19 protocol.

The victim, a 32-year-old widow, said a policeman attached to the Sakpenwa Police Division, Tai Local Government Area, allegedly abducted her Tuesday to a guest house where he raped her at gunpoint after arresting her for not wearing a nose mask. She narrated:

“I was returning from Bori to Port Harcourt when I met some police officers at a checkpoint. They arrested me for not wearing a nose mask. They kept me long there with them. “Thereafter they carried me from one place to the other, claiming they want to take me to the police station, but never took me to any police station.

“After some time, they took me to a guest house where one of them raped me till dawn. His name is Inspector Peter Iba of Sakpenwa Police Station.” “Open immediate investigation into the alleged rape of this woman by a serving officer. “There is no justification for the punishment of rape to be meted out to a woman because she flouted Rivers State Government order on the use of nose masks. I expect the police to take this matter seriously.

“You know there’s a recent order from the Inspector General of Police charging every Command to do everything possible to make rape a thing of the past in the society.” The victim had on the spur-of-the-moment on Tuesday raised alarm in a text message posted on a WhatsApp media platform where she lamented, “I have been taken to a guess house just because of N100 face mask.

“I can’t believe this is happening to me. He wants to sleep with me. I am dying. He wouldn’t let me pick any call. He threatened to seize my phone.” The Police Command in the state reacting to the allegation through the Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers Command, Nnamdi Omoni, said: “After hearing about this, we immediately invited the lady. After hearing from her, she made a written statement and Investigation has commenced.”

APC Finally Breaks Silence On Tinubu-Dogara 2023 Presidency Ticket

APC Finally Breaks Silence On Tinubu-Dogara 2023 Presidency Ticket

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, Mai Mala Buni, has dismissed the purported 2023 presidential ticket of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, as mere rumour.

Buni stated this while speaking with BBC Hausa on Thursday.

When the Yobe state Governor was asked whether Dogara joined the party, so that Tinubu/Dogara would contest to have Muslim/Christian ticket, he replied: “These are mere rumour and rumor strive in democracy. That’s not even our concern for now.

“It is not even proper to start talking about 2023 when we have a seating President.

“People were surprised when Dogara joined us (APC). That’s how we will continue to spring surprises. In democracy, people talk but 2023 is not even our priority now. We are working towards uniting the party.”

Dogara returned to the ruling party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last Friday.

Beyonce’s Visual Album “Black Is King” Arrives As She Releases Already Video With Shatta Wale

Beyonce's Visual Album "Black Is King" Arrives As She Realeases Already Video With Shatta Wale

Beyoncé’s highly anticipated new project, Black Is King has arrived (on Disney+). Deemed “a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience” in a press release, Black Is King includes a cast of notable and familiar faces, such Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and JAY-Z, and moves across the world — from New York, to Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, to London and Belgium — to capture the performances of actors and dancers as they appear in varied tableaus.

On Instagram, Beyoncé shared that the film is meant to “celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry,” and acknowledged that its release takes on new significance in the current climate.

The filmis a companion to 2019’s The Lion King: The Gift, which Beyoncé curated for Disney’s photorealistic remake of the 1994 animated classic, The Lion King. (She also provided the voice for Nala in the film.) Produced by Beyoncé’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment, Black is King also includes four full-length videos for the tracks “Already,” “Brown Skin Girl,” “Mood 4 Eva” and “My Power,” which was featured in the latest trailer.

“… I’ve tried my best to pull down the veil of appeasement to those who may feel uncomfortable with our excellence…”

The last time we heard from Queen Bey was with the surprise-drop of her celebratory new track, “Black Parade,” on Juneteenth. The song asserts a specific connection to Blackness, and through a myriad of references, draws a link to the African diaspora that she has more recently begun to explore in her work. In the context of Black Is King, this connection is paramount, as the film seeks to capture a global sense of Blackness, within and beyond the U.S.

Few have as much narrative-bending power as Beyoncé, who sent shockwaves through the canon with 2016’s Lemonade. In 2018, Kiana Fitzgerald wrote for NPR that “Bey’s ability to have laser-focused attention on the Black experience didn’t happen overnight: It took years for her to amass a following first. She then constructed a platform strong enough from which to make such bold statements. And since Lemonade, Bey has continued to make a concerted effort to put Black bodies in her visuals, and call attention to the importance of Black women and Black love.”

A Woman Was Blown To Pieces In Lagos Gas Explosion As Fourth Victim Dies

A Woman Was Blown To Pieces – Eyewitnesses Recount Horror Lagos Gas Explosion As Fourth Victim Dies

Titilayo and the scene of the explosion

According to a report by The PUNCH, a man, simply identified as Victor, has died from the injuries he sustained in the gas explosion, which occurred on Innua Muhammed Street, off Asa-Afariogun Street, in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State, on Tuesday.

Victor, a tailor, was said to be working in his shop when the explosion occurred in one of the adjoining shops where gas was being refilled into cylinders.

Victor was reportedly rushed to the Faith City Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

PUNCH Metro had reported that three persons died on Tuesday during the explosion and that no fewer than nine shops were destroyed by the impact of the explosion.

When one of our correspondents visited the scene of the incident on Wednesday, residents identified the deceased victims as a businesswoman and owner of the gas shop, Titilayo Adeyanju, her daughter, Funke, and a customer identified simply as Alfa.

It was learnt that Titilayo had closed for the day when the welder, Alfa, came in a commercial tricycle to purchase gas at her shop.

Residents of the area, who spoke to PUNCH Metro, said Titilayo initially refused to attend to Alfa, but after much persuasion, she changed her mind and instructed her daughter, Funke, who usually assisted her, to attend to the customer.

However, as Funke attempted to transfer gas from one of the giant cylinders into the miniature cylinder brought by the welder, the whole shop exploded.

The impact of the explosion was said to have blown Titilayo, Funke and Alfa into pieces.

A vulcanizer in the area, who gave his name simply as Rabiu, said Funke was trying to fix a hose on a giant cylinder when the explosion occurred, adding that he escaped being killed by a whisker.

Rabiu stated, “I was joking with Titilayo and walking away when her daughter opened the shop to attend to the customer. I usually shy away from helping her to roll out the cylinders, because they are too heavy. Funke was trying to fix a hose on a giant cylinder when it exploded.

“I initially thought it was a three-storey building, which was under construction on the street, that collapsed, but when I looked back, I saw many shops and vehicles on fire; I quickly rushed back and saw that mummy (Titilayo) had been killed by the explosion. She was blown into pieces.

“The impact of the explosion tore Funke into pieces. Her decapitated head was picked from the next compound, while other parts could not be retrieved. The welder’s head was picked from the three-storey building under construction.

“The tailor, Victor, was seriously wounded in his shop, where he was pressing a dress. His waist was severed by one of the giant cylinders. He was still alive and pleading for help when people rushed him to the Faith City Hospital, which is some metres away from the scene of the incident. Unfortunately, he died as soon as he got to the hospital.”

Another eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Taye, said the victims died a painful death, adding that it was not long after he left Titilayo’s shop that the explosion occurred.

He said, “I have not been to the area since the lockdown started. I resumed for business on Monday and on Tuesday, I was in her shop hours before the explosion took place.

“I just can’t believe that mummy Titilayo is gone just like that. She and her daughter died in a very painful way. God saved her grandson, who usually comes with her to the shop. That very day, I was told he decided to stay back. The death of the woman and her daughter is a big loss to their family.”

A barber in the area, who gave his name simply as Femi, said, “The cylinders were flying out of the shop like rockets. One landed on the roof of a three-storey building under construction and started burning the roof. Others hit about three vehicles parked on the street, including that of Titilayo, and set them ablaze.

“It was when the explosion subsided and we rushed to see if we could save those trapped that we discovered that Titilayo had been killed. Her remains were deposited in a morgue.”

When contacted, one of the shop owners, Taiwo Agbalaya, said, “I lost 15 televisions and 10 home theatres, and other valuables. I could not even see my shop after the explosion. I was not in the shop when the incident happened but I had a visitor who was injured. I don’t know what to do, I want the government to help me.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that the impact of the explosion was far-reaching and several buildings in the area were affected. Wreckages of the burnt vehicles and shops that were destroyed by the impact of the explosion were also sighted.

To prevent a secondary incident, it was observed that the scene of the incident as well as some shops along the stretch had been cordoned off by officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency. The three-storey building, which was partially affected, was also cordoned off.

Stella Immanuel – The Doctor Behind Unproven Coronavirus Cure Claim

Stella Immanuel - the doctor behind unproven coronavirus cure claim

Stella Immanuel, a doctor at the centre of a controversy over unproven and potentially dangerous claims that an anti-malaria drug can treat Covid-19, is no stranger to conspiracy theories.

Facebook and Twitter have taken down the viral video in which she appears, saying it violates their policies about misinformation – but not before it was retweeted by Donald Trump and one of his sons.

The US president defended himself, saying he found Dr Immanuel, who was born in Cameroon and is based in the Texan city of Houston, “very impressive”.

“She said that she had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients, I thought her voice was an important voice but I know nothing about her,” he said on Tuesday.

Dr Immanuel, who is also a Christian pastor, gave a speech on the steps of the US Supreme Court in Washington, captured in a video first published by right-wing website Breitbart on Monday.

Along with other medics from a group called America’s Frontline Doctors, she said that Americans were being denied a potential cure for Covid-19.

“Nobody needs to get sick. This virus has a cure – it is called hydroxychloroquine, I have treated over 350 patients and not had one death,” said Dr Immanuel.

Despite some early studies raising hopes that the drug could be used to cure coronavirus, one subsequent larger scale trial has shown it is not effective as a treatment.

More about hydroxychloroquine:

The World Health Organization (WHO) has halted its trials, saying it doesn’t reduce death rates in patients with coronavirus.

Last month, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautioned against using the drug to treat coronavirus patients, following reports of “serious heart rhythm problems” and other health issues.

And Dr Anthony Fauci, a leading member of the White House coronavirus task force, has reiterated these views.

“We know that every single good study – and by good study I mean randomised control study in which the data are firm and believable – has shown that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in the treatment of Covid-19,” he told the BBC on Wednesday.

But Dr Immanuel has insisted taking hydroxychloroquine is not harmful because it is widely taken in her home country of Cameroon, where malaria is endemic.

Witches and demons

Born in 1965, Dr Immanuel graduated with a medical degree from the University of Calabar in neighbouring Nigeria – and has a valid doctor’s licence, according to the website of the Texas Medical Board.

Hydroxychloroquine has long been used as a treatment for malaria

She is also a pastor and the founder of Fire Power Ministries in Houston, a platform she has used to promote other conspiracies about the medical profession.

Her sermons are available on a YouTube account set up in 2009.

Five years ago, she alleged that alien DNA was being used in medical treatments, and that scientists were cooking up a vaccine to prevent people from being religious.

Some of her other claims include blaming medical conditions on witches and demons – a common enough belief among some evangelical Christians – though she says they have sex with people in a dream world.

“They turn into a woman and then they sleep with the man and collect his sperm then they turn into the man and they sleep with a man and deposit the sperm and reproduce more of themselves,” she said during a sermon in 2013.

Another issue that Dr Immanuel targets is gay marriage, saying it can result in adults marrying children, according to the Daily Beast.

She also offers a prayer to remove a generational curse, originally received from an ancestor, but transmitted through placenta, the news website’s profile of her says.

‘Jesus will shut Facebook’

In her latest video posted on Twitter on Tuesday, she asks patients she says she has cured of Covid-19 to come forward.

“If you don’t speak up we are getting trashed,” she says, encouraging them to use a hashtag when they post their video messages.

Her tweet has had more than 27,000 retweets.

After Facebook took down the America’s Frontline Doctors’ video on Tuesday, she declared that Jesus Christ would destroy the social media giant’s servers if her videos were not restored to the platform.

Facebook has not reported an interruption on its services.

Who are America’s Frontline Doctors?

It is a collection of physicians critical of the scientific consensus around the Covid-19 pandemic. The event on Monday was backed by the Tea Party Patriots, a conservative organisation seeking to re-elect President Trump.

The doctors believe neither masks nor shutdowns are necessary to fight the spread of coronavirus.

The group’s founder, Simone Gold, organised a letter to Mr Trump calling for an end to lockdown measures in May.

Participants were encouraged to seek out interviews with social media influencers, as this was determined to be the best way to reach Americans.

Ralph Norman, a Republican member of the House of Representatives, was standing alongside the doctors when they delivered their news conference.

The debate has been increasingly dividing Americans along political lines, with proponents of hydroxychloroquine pointing to President Trump’s support of it while accusing critics of covering up its potential effectiveness.

An aid worker has recounted how a mysterious rain quelled a fire that was set on Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) by herdsmen who recently attacked Zikpak, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Assailants of Fulani extraction attacked the Zikpak community last week, killing people and leaving them homeless. The source said, “The attackers attempted to burn down the ECWA church building but only God knows how that miracle occurred as the rain began to fall. It stopped the fire that was already set on the building.”

The aid worker told SaharaReporters that a young cleric, identified as Rev Kuyet Shamh Ishaya(25), was killed in the attack by the herdsmen.

The source said Ishaya, who had recently graduated from the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Theological Seminary, was preparing to get married.

While explaining that the Zikpak community is less than 2km drive away from the Joint Task Force (JTF) base, the aid worker said other survivors had been moved to the state hospital for treatment.

The attacks have rendered many of the residents homeless.

SaharaReporters gathered Tuesday night that many of the residents, who were displaced by the attacks, have been moved to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps.

In a telephone interview with SaharaReporters, Rev. Gambo Waziri, the head of Mercy IDP Camp in Zonkwe, said over two thousand persons affected by the attacks are now in the camp.

Waziri noted that the displaced persons came from over 20 different villages, mostly in the Jema’a Local Government Area where the state government has now extended the 6 pm to 6am curfew.

“Four villages were severely affected by the attacks, and, unfortunately, it happened when the curfew was on.

“The situation in the IDP is fine. There are security personnel ensuring our safety here at the camp.”
