Corona Virus: Russia Becomes First Country To Register Vaccine, Putin’s Daughter Vaccinated

Corona Virus: Russia Becomes First Country To Register Vaccine, Putin's Daughter Vaccinated
Russian President, Vladimir Putin

Russia has approved a corona virus vaccine developed by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute for use, President Vladimir Putin said on Russian State TV on Tuesday.

Speaking in a live teleconference with his cabinet ministers, Putin said the vaccine had gone through all the necessary checks.

“A vaccine against corona virus has been registered for the first time in the world this morning,” Putin said, adding: “I know that it works quite effectively, it forms a stable immunity.”

“So we’re the first to have registered. I hope our foreign colleagues’ work will move as well, and a lot of products will appear on an international market that could be used,” Putin said.

The Russian President revealed that one of his daughters has taken the vaccine; he said she had a slightly higher temperature following the injections, but that she now feels better.
“I know this very well too, as one of my daughters has been inoculated with the vaccine,” he said.
“I think that this way she participated in the experiment. After the first injection her temperature was 38 [degrees Celsius], the next day 37-something and that’s it. After the second injection the temperature also got a bit higher but that’s it, then it went back down. Now she feels well.”
Reports about Russia’s vaccine have come amid concerns about its safety, effectiveness and allegations that the country has cut essential corners in its development.

Russian officials told CNN previously that crucial Phase 3 trials would take place after state registration of the vaccine.

Russia has released no scientific data on its vaccine testing and we have not been able to verify its claimed safety or effectiveness.

Critics say the country’s push for a vaccine comes amid political pressure from the Kremlin, which is keen to portray Russia as a global scientific force.

The Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected fake soldier, Fabian Ojumah, on the Sapele/Benin Road with 420 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who stated this on Monday, said the suspect was caught with a fake army van.

“The suspect is not a real army officer. He was caught with 420 wraps of Indian hemp; where he was taking them to is not specified but, investigation is ongoing,”Onovwakpoyeya stated.

It was gathered that the 44-year-old man from Abbi claimed to be a Major in the Nigerian Army when he was quizzed by the personnel of the Operation Safer Highways’ patrol team.

The fake military van, with plate number NA142- B01, used in conveying the 420 packs of compressed Indian Hemp, was recovered from the suspect.

The PPRO added that though Ojumah grew up in the barracks, he was never a soldier.

Sagay: Only Salami Is Not Representing An Agency With Issues To Grind In Magu Probe Panel

Sagay: Only Salami Is Not Representing An Agency With Issues To Grind In Magu Probe Panel
Prof Itse Sagay
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itsay Sagay (SAN), on Monday, criticized the Justice Ayo Salami panel probing the allegations of corruption leveled against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and its suspended acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, for taking testimonies of suspects being investigated by the anti-graft agency.

Sagay, in a statement titled, ‘Press release by Prof. Itsay Sagay, Chairman of PACAC,’ also noted that Salami appeared to be the only neutral person on the panel which he stated was constituted by representatives of agencies that had leveled allegations against Magu.

Sagay who was denying a media report in which he was said to have been quoted as saying that Magu would not be prosecuted, however, expressed confidence that  Salami would not allow injustice to occur in the panel.

He stated, “What I said was that Magu could not be prosecuted before the Salami Report is out and that Malami’s allegations are just what they are, allegations in a petition.

“No one is prosecuted on unverified allegations as the PDP wanted, otherwise it would be a lost cause from the very beginning.  In my statement, I made it clear that Malami’s petition was just the beginning of a process that could lead to prosecution if solid evidence is established upon investigation.

“I did not say Magu may not be prosecuted.  I am not privy to the politics of the Presidency: that was from the Daily Independent’s unnamed source in the Presidency.”

Buhari: We Could Have Used The Military To Win Some States During Elections

Buhari: We Could Have Used The Military To Win Some States During Elections
President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the ruling party, could have used the military to overrun opposition states in the 2019 general election but it chose to be impartial.

Speaking at a meeting with North-East Governors on Monday, Buhari said the government wanted to show Nigerians that it is humane.

Among the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors who attended the meeting at Aso Rock were Ahmadu Fintri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) and Darius Ishaku (Taraba).

“It is true that we lost some states as a ruling party in a developing country, which is normal. I am proud of that because we are impartial, that is why as ruling party, we lost some states. That means we have our own mistakes,” he said.

“Some of those that defeated us are sitting here. We know we are a developing country but we respect our country, otherwise, with the use of Army, the police and the rest of them, we could have overrun you. We just wanted to show that we are humane and we are Nigerians. We will continue to do our best.”

The President said before last year’s elections, his party went round the country “apologizing for not doing better, but we are doing our best. I think Nigerians believe us”.

“Nigerians, we thank God, understood us and they voted for us,” he said.

The President also lamented the high level of insecurity in the country, asking the military to put in more efforts in keeping Nigerians safe.

Major reasons why Women cheat

Major reasons why Women cheat

This is about one of the biggest and most puzzling question for men. No one can exactly wrap their head around why anyone cheats, not to talk of women who are always usually the contented ones in relationships. The truth is, even women themselves don’t exactly know why they cheat, but best believe that if a woman ever makes it past the decision to cheat and actually goes ahead to commit the crime, there is no going back.

There are few but very intense reason why women would generally consider cheating on their men, and these reasons can actually be worked on if the men in their lives just sits and listen. Let me break down what I mean.

1. TO FILL AN EMOTIONAL VACUUM

This is one of the most important reason why any woman would ever consider cheating in a relationship. If she feels an emotional void or vacuum that a relationship with you hasn’t yet filled, then she will look to fill that vacuum someone else. To women, their emotional needs is as important as every other need in the life, probably more important than food. It is why as you meet their financial needs as their providers, it is never going to be enough until you actually make them feel your presence emotionally. Women are like flowers, they blossom when being cared for and when their soul are fed with love. So, if all you do is meet your girlfriend’s financial needs, but never truly find time to take her our once in a while, write her love notes, steal kisses randomly and just stare at her like she is the most beautiful woman in the world, she is going to go find that fulfillment somewhere else.

2. BOREDOM

Women can be somewhat as adventurous as men, as usually do crazy stuff when they get bored just like men. Ask yourself where your current relationship stands. Is the spark that used to burn at the beginning of the relationship still there? Do you feel as intensely drawn to this person as you used to? If No is your answer, then you probably know or have a hint of how she must be feeling in that relationship. Boredom in a relationship opens up the window for unwanted guest who can come make your girl feel that there must be something she is missing with you. It is at the point of maybe exploring at something new that most women find themselves cheating in relationships. If this is your relationship, you owe it a responsibility to get working.

3. FINANCIAL SECURITY

Everybody finds this excuse as flimpsy as it comes, but best believe, one of the major reasons women cheat is to gain financial security. No, she hasn’t stopped loving you. No, she doesn’t have doubts about you. No. she isn’t greedy. She just found someone who promises a better financial secured future for her than you can provide, and if we are being honest, you will realise that woman probably need twice the amount of financial aid to survive than a man will. Because women are used to having men as the providers as the society has designed it, they look up to the men to provide irrespective of whether they can fend for themselves or not. So yes, most women cheat so they never have to worry about the things that money can buy at a particular time, pending when you can start to provide like she wants.

4. SEXUAL EXPLORATION AND SATISFACTION

It is not just important that your girl is financially and emotionally satisfied in a relationship with you, it is important that she is also sexual satisfied. Ask your when last you guys did anything crazy or explored with your sexual life. When last did you make out in public, do PDAs or even had mind blowing foreplay. Are you the one style man, the man who considers it a taboo to eat out his lady but wants to get mind blowing blow job? Are you a selfish man during sex, only seeking to take but never really giving? Then there is a high tendency that the reason she is seeing other people is because finally, someone else is putting her sexual needs first before his, that she is finally getting the sexual satisfaction that she truly deserves and that her body is finally getting worshiped like it truly deserves. If you need for her to be back as your girl, then you need to do and be better.

5. REVENGE

Believe it or not, there are still women who cheat in the 21st century as a means of revenge for men’s countless betrayals in relationships. So if your babe is one of those babes who will go explore as you are exploring than you really have no reason to be mad.

I am guessing that you now have a glimpse into the thought process of women and why they cheat. It doesn’t have to sound rational to you, but it is what it is. So take some time out and communicate with your lady, find out where you guys are both lacking and fix it.

Lebanon’s justice minister quit on Monday in the third cabinet resignation since a deadly blast blamed on state negligence ripped through the capital, a ministry official told AFP.

Marie Claude Najem, who was heckled by protesters in a damaged Beirut street two days after the explosion, submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Hassan Diab, whose government was set to meet later in the day to discuss the August 4 disaster.

Several MPs also quit and local media reported Diab was mulling announcing the entire government’s resignation, a day after protesters briefly occupied and ransacked government ministries.

Hundreds gathered again in and around Martyrs’ Square, a short walk from the port where the devastating explosion occurred, killing at least 158 people and injuring a staggering 6,000, many bloodied by flying glass.

“Those who died paid the price of a state that doesn’t care about anything except power and money,” said protester Tamara, 23, whose friend Rawan, 20, was killed in the blast.

“It’s not enough that ministers resign,” said her friend Michel.

“Those who put the explosives there must be held accountable. We want an international tribunal to tell us who killed (Rawan).”

Police later fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse protesters who hurled stones and let off fireworks near a street leading to parliament, AFP correspondents said.

Many wore helmets and gas masks, some wielded makeshift shields and others rushed to pick up smouldering tear gas shells and threw them back towards police.

– ‘My government did this’ –

While it is not known what started the fire that set off a huge stockpile of ammonium nitrate, protesters say the disaster could not have happened without the corruption and incompetence that have come to define Lebanon’s ruling class.

A picture went viral online showing the city’s devastated port, with a low wall in the foreground bearing the spray-painted message: “My government did this.”

The disaster has revived anger at a ruling class seen as living in luxury while millions endure job losses, deepening poverty, power blackouts and garbage mountains piling up in the streets.

The Lebanese army had “fading hopes” of finding any more survivors, Colonel Roger Khoury told reporters Sunday.

Human Rights Watch’s Lebanon researcher Aya Majzoub said some security forces had indiscriminately fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters.

“Instead of deploying the army to help residents clear rubble from their homes, businesses, and communities, the Lebanese authorities chose to deploy them and other security forces against protesters.”

Saturday’s violence injured 65 people, the Lebanese Red Cross reported, while lawyers supporting protesters said security forces made 20 arrests.

The August 4 explosion came as Lebanon was already reeling from an economic crisis that has seen its currency collapse, plunging swathes of its population into poverty, and struggling with a spike in coronavirus cases.

13 Year-Old Girl Abducted As Bandits Attack Katsina Again

Bandits on Sunday night abducted a 13-year-old girl, Khadijat Mutaka, in the Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Eyewitnesses said the bandits also shot and injured one Ibrahim Yar-Garshe, 30, during the attack.

It was learnt that the bandits stormed the Kurfi community around 9pm after scaling the surrounding mountains.

A security team made up of Operation Puff Adder reportedly confronted the bandits, who later escaped into the bush with the girl.

The Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.

He said efforts were on to rescue Mutaka while the wounded man had already been taken to a hospital.

Isah said, “The hoodlums kidnapped a thirteen-year-old girl and shot one Ibrahim Yar-Garshe on his leg. The security team including Operation Puff Adder and that of Operation Sharan-Daji are already making efforts to rescue the girl. Ibrahim is also receiving treatment in a hospital.”

BREAKING NEWS: JAMB Announces New Date For 2020 UTME Examination Screening

BREAKING NEWS: JAMB Announces New Date For 2020 UTME Examination Screening

The 2020/2021 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening will commence in Nigeria’s higher institutions on September 7.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of tertiary institutions on Monday.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, who made the announcement, said the screening would now hold between September 7 and November 18.

Earlier, the board had issued a guideline for all tertiary institutions to begin their admission with effect from August 20.

Oloyede said the adjustment in the date would allow students taking the 2020 O’ level examinations to be able to participate in the screening.

He said, “Presently as you are aware, WAEC starts the Senior School Certificate Examination on August 17, it will go on till September 7.

“Similarly, on September 21 or thereabout, NABTEB will commence its examination that will go on till on the 15 of October, and immediately after that, NECO starts on the 5th and will hold till 18 of November.

“Rather than making candidates run, particularly, when they will have to write their school certificate exam in different towns and rush to university elsewhere for post-UTME, like somebody rushing from Sokoto to Ibadan for post-UTME, we believe as a custodian of the highest sector of the education system, we should avoid that.

“For those (institutions) who want to take post-UTME, that cannot be earlier than the 7th of September and it will be held twice – September 7 to October 4, and then it will be held for the second time on the 18 November to mop up those who are taking their school certificate examination.”
