Horror Twist In Murder Suicide As Reports Show Man Lived With His Wife And Son’s Corpses Weeks Before Stabbing Himself

Horror Twist In Murder Suicide As Reports Show Man Lived With His Wife And Son's Corpses Weeks Before Stabbing Himself

A mother and her three-year-old son could have been dead for up to two weeks before their bodies were found yesterday in a suspected murder suicide.

Police believe Poorna Kaameshwari Sivaraj, 36, and son Kailash Kuha Raj had been ‘dead for some time’ after they had not been heard from or seen since September 21.

Officers forced their way into the family’s fourth-floor flat in Brentford, West London, in the early hours of yesterday after concerns were raised for their welfare.

Mrs Sivaraj’s husband Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan, 42, is thought to have stabbed himself when police broke in and was treated by paramedics before dying there.

His wife and son were already dead, and their pet black cockapoo dog had been killed. Detectives are not looking for anybody in connection with the deaths.

Scotland Yard officers initially received a call late on Sunday from a family member raising concerns about the welfare of Mrs Sivaraj.

They went to the home several times in the following hours but got no reply, and fears heightened after speaking to neighbours on Monday so they forced entry.

The bodies were found at 1am yesterday. Neighbours said the couple, Malaysian-born Tamils who wed in Kuala Lumpur in 2015, were frequently heard arguing.

One local resident, who lives on the sixth floor of their block, said: ‘Things got really bad between them, especially during the lockdown.

‘They are one of the few couples with a young child in our block and you could hear the screaming at each other, sometimes for very long periods. One day she threw his stuff out of the window and told him to take his medicine.’

Fahad Alsharamy, who lives next door to the family, said: ‘In lockdown they fought a bit but it’s normal for families. But for one week it has been very quiet.

‘He was a nice guy and good man, quiet and cared about his family. I spoke to them and they were friendly and they would say hello all the time.’

More neighbours paid tribute to the ‘lovely’ family as they expressed their shock at the news.

One, who gave her name as Jamila and lives in a neighbouring block, told MailOnline: ‘It’s tragic. They loved their dog and I’d see them all the time taking him out for walks.

‘They were a lovely family. The officers told me that there was blood all over the flat and that the dog had also been killed.’

Police said the family’s next of kin have been informed and post-mortem examinations are scheduled to begin tomorrow.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘Although we are in the infancy of this investigation is appears that Poorna and Kailash had been dead for some time.

‘This is a murder investigation and my team will work diligently to establish the sequence of events that led to their murders and the death of Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan.

‘Our initial enquiries have established that Poorna and Kailash had not been seen or heard from for some time, perhaps since around September 21.

‘We know the family often walked their dog, a poodle cross breed, in and around the local area and I would ask anyone who saw them at any time in the last month to contact police so we can begin to build a full picture of their lives.’

The Directorate of Professional Standards has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because Mr Sithamparanathan is thought to have killed himself when officers entered.

DCI Harding added: ‘I know I speak on behalf of all the officers in my team that words cannot sufficiently sum up the devastation that this horrific incident will have on the families of those involved.

‘However, I can reassure them that we will do all we can to provide them with the answers they need about what has happened here.’

California judge postpones Hushpuppi’s trial till next year

California judge postpones Hushpuppi’s trial till next year

The trial of Ramon Abbas, the Nigerian Instagram celebrity, known as Hushpuppi has been postponed in California till May 2021, reports indicated today.

Hushpuppi, who was extradited to the United States from Dubai in July, is facing criminal charges alleging he conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from business email compromise (BEC) frauds and other scams.

The alleged scams included schemes targeting a U.S. law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.

Premium Times reported today that Judge Otis Wright has scheduled Hushpuppie’s jury trial for 9:00 a.m. on May 4, 2021. Judge Wright made the order on 23 September.

The trial was expected to begin this month, but was rescheduled because of coronavirus.

The 37-year-old Mr Abbas, was busted in Dubai in June by UAE police, working in collaboration with the FBI.

In July, Mr Abbas alongside another Nigerian fraud suspect Olalekan Ponle, popularly known as Woodberry, was extradited to Chicago, where he was first arraigned.

He was later transferred to Los Angeles, in California, where his trial will commence.

According to an FBI affidavit supporting Abbas’s extradition to the US, the FBI said Abbas financed this opulent lifestyle through crime, and that he is one of the leaders of a transnational network that facilitates computer intrusions, fraudulent schemes (including BEC schemes), and money laundering, targeting victims around the world in schemes designed to steal hundreds of millions of dollars.” according to the affidavit.

The affidavit describes BEC schemes as often involving a computer hacker gaining unauthorized access to a business’ email account, blocking or redirecting communications to and/or from that email account, and then using the compromised email account or a separate fraudulent email account to communicate with personnel from a victim company and to attempt to trick them into making an unauthorized wire transfer.

“BEC schemes are one of the most difficult cybercrimes we encounter as they typically involve a coordinated group of con artists scattered around the world who have experience with computer hacking and exploiting the international financial system,” said United States Attorney Nick Hanna.

The affidavit alleges that Abbas and others committed a BEC scheme that defrauded a client of a New York-based law firm out of approximately $922,857 in October 2019. Abbas and co-conspirators allegedly tricked one of the law firm’s paralegals into wiring money intended for the client’s real estate refinancing to a bank account that was controlled by Abbas and the co-conspirators.

The affidavit also alleges that Abbas conspired to launder funds stolen in a $14.7 million cyber-heist from a foreign financial institution in February 2019, in which the stolen money was sent to bank accounts around the world. Abbas allegedly provided a co-conspirator with two bank accounts in Europe that Abbas anticipated each would receive €5 million (about $5.6 million) of the fraudulently obtained funds.

Abbas and others further conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including one scheme to steal £100 million (approximately $124 million) from an English Premier League soccer club, the complaint alleges.

If convicted of conspiracy to engage in money laundering, Abbas would face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

Millions Of Nigerians Are Living In Poverty – VP Osinbajo Cries Out

Millions Of Nigerians Are Living In Poverty - VP Osinbajo Cries Out

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, admitted that millions of Nigerians are living below the poverty line.

Osinbajo lamented that the COVID-19 pandemic had further worsened the unemployment and poverty rate in the country.

The Vice President disclosed this after several sessions at the two-day retreat, which reviewed the challenges of the relationship and interdependence between the executive and legislative arms of government.

He, however, urged the executive and legislatures to work together in addressing the challenges confronting Nigerians.

A statement forwarded to DAILY POST by his spokesman, Laolu Akande quoted Osinbajo as saying: “Every generation of leadership must understand context. Law itself must be interpreted and implemented in context. What is the reality of the context that we operate in today?

“We all know, our nation has millions of extremely poor people, the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened unemployment and poverty.

“We have huge deficits in infrastructure, many children are out of school. If that is our context, we will be callous and irresponsible if we don’t come together, work together to sort out these grave life threatening problems our people have to confront every day. The dogmatic emphasis on procedural niceties is a luxury we cannot afford.”

1 In 10 Persons Globally Infected By Coronavirus, World Heading To Difficult Period —WHO

The World Health Organisation has said that roughly one in 10 persons worldwide have been infected with COVID-19, which leaves the rest of the world’s population vulnerable to the disease.

Mike Ryan, WHO’s top emergency expert, made this known on Tuesday while addressing the Executive Board of the health agency.

He said, “Our current best estimates tell us about 10% of the global population may have been infected by this virus. It varies depending on the country, it varies from urban to rural, it varies depending on groups.

“But what it does mean is that the vast majority of the world remains at risk.

Nigeria Police Not Sincere On SARS Reform, Says Falana-led Group

Nigeria Police Not Sincere On SARS Reform, Says Falana-led Group
Femi Falana (SAN)

The Alliance on Surviving COVID-19 and Beyond, a coalition of over 80 organisations, has said that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, was not sincere in his latest ban of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Amid social media campaign to scrap the police squad, the IGP on Sunday banned SARS officials from carrying out ‘stop and search’ operations on roads.

However, concerns remain on its implementation as similar bans had been announced in the past with little or no action to enforce it.

ASCAB in a statement by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, said it was not the first time the police high command had issued such orders banning the squad.

The group said gross violations of human rights are linked to SARS and that a change of structure without fundamental change of operatives of the structure will soon make the problems to reoccur.

The statement reads, “The police high command have banned SARS several times. It has become a ritual. But SARS continues  to operative under different names or structure. What we see is like removing sour wine and putting it in the same old, rusty bottles. Nothing remarkable has changed in the police command structure that aids all forms of repression and extra-judicial killings

“It will be recalled that following public outcry in 2018 against indiscriminate arrests and detention, extortion and extrajudicial killings as well as other the horrendous human rights abuse of perpetrated by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad by setting up the Presidential Panel of Enquiry to investigate all complaints of human rights abuse. It noted that many Nigerians submitted reports and memorandum and gave clear evidence of police abuse but that the recommendations are yet to be implemented in 2020.

“Some of the recommendations made included  the dismissal of 37 police officers from the force and the prosecution of 24 others, investigation of 22 officers involved in the violation of human rights of innocent citizens, payment of compensation of various sums in 45 complaints and tender of public apologies in five complaints and compliance with court orders in five matters.

“Other recommendations were the setting up of  State and local government police and renaming of SARS to Anti-Robbery Section (ARS) which should operate under the intelligence unit of the police. The recommendations were accepted by President Muhammadu Buhari on June 3, 2019. But nothing has been done since then. The Inspector-General of Police and the Solicitor-General of the Federation/Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, were mandated to engage the National Human Rights Commission for a strategy of implementation within three months.

“To declare a ban on SARS again is nothing but policy summersault. It does show effective leadership neither does it portray the police authority as consistent.”

The group said if the reports were implemented it would have addressed major problems associated with the operative system of SARS and would have brought an end to its oppressive and inhuman modalities.

Falana said instead of ensuring that erring SARS operatives face the law, they had rather been treated like sacred cows.

Prophet Alfa Babatunde

Prophet Alfa Babatunde, founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Akure, Ondo State, has been sentenced to life imprisonment over his involvement in the disappearance of Gold Kolawole, a toddler, in his church.

Prophet Babatunde was jailed on Tuesday by Justice Olusegun Odusola of the Ondo State High Court, Akure.

Kolawole was one-year-old at that time of his disappearance from the church in Akure.

He went missing on November 10 during a Sunday service after his mother, Modupe Kolawole, dropped him at the children’s unit of the church.

The prophet was jailed alongside six other defendants including Omodara Olayinka, Margaret Oyebola, Grace Ogunjobi, Egunjobi Motunrayo, Esther Kayode and Peter Anjorin.

Justice Odusola condemned in strong terms the complicity, compromise and lackadaisical attitude of the Ondo State Police command after Kolawole went missing, an incident that led to the burning of the church.

Prophet Babatunde was arrested on December 10, 2019 by the Department of the State Services following a petition by parents of the missing child.

Domestic Assault Allegations: DMW Terminates Lil Frosh's Contract
Lil Frosh and Camille

Up-and-coming rapper, Sanni Goriola, professionally known as Lil Frosh has been given the boot by his label, Davido Music Worldwide after the rapper was accused of allegedly beating up his girlfriend.

Frosh came under fire on Monday, October 5, 2020, after he was called out by Michael, the manager and brother of Frosh’s embattled girlfriend, Gift Camille.

Camille’s brother, Michael alleged that this is not the first time Frosh has assaulted Camille. He made the allegation along with images of a badly bruised Camille.

“You have done enough damage for almost a year now you have been in a relationship with my sister and client and you have brought her nothing but horror, pain and disaster,” Michael said on his Instagram page.

Reacting to the allegations, DMW stated in a press release that it would never support or condone domestic abuse:

“In light of recent allegations made against Mr. Sanni Goriola Wasiu a.k.a. Lil Frosh, we would like to state that as a record label, domestic violence is not a trivial matter and we will never support or condone such behavior.

“There is no excuse for the actions of Lil Frosh and we understand that there is nothing that can be said or done to take away the insensitivity shown.”

DMW added that it has with immediate effect terminated its contract and “all affiliations” with the rapper who was fully signed to the label in September 2020 after having ditched his former label, Aloma Music Worldwide. The label once again restated its stance on domestic violence:

“Upon internal investigations carried out by the label, we are left with no option than to terminate the recording contract that exists between the label and Lil Frosh, effective immediately. We hereby immediately severe all affiliations with Mr. Sanni Goriola Wasiu a.k.a. Lil Frosh.

“Once again, we do not condone domestic violence and stand with all victims of domestic violence.”

As at the time of this report, Frosh has not responded to the accusations or the recent termination of his recording contract. The rapper has maintained a social media silence.

Arsenal Cost Cutting: Ozil Offers To Pay Gunnersaurus Wages

Arsenal Cost Cutting: Ozil Offers To Pay Gunnersaurus Wages
Mezut Ozil

Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has stepped in to save the club’s giant Gunnersaurus from extinction after it was revealed the man behind the mascot had been released as part of cost-cutting measures.

Jerry Quy, who has played the role of the dinosaur mascot since 1993, has been let go, with stadiums empty during the coronavirus crisis.

“I was so sad that Jerry Quy aka our famous & loyal mascot @Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club was being made redundant after 27 years,” Ozil tweeted on Tuesday.

“As such, I’m offering to reimburse @Arsenal with the full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player…”

A GoFundMe page titled “Save Gunnersaurus” has already raised more than £10,000 ($13,000).

A statement on the page reads: “Gunnersaurus has been the Arsenal club mascot for 27 years. He’s a club icon and we cannot let him become extinct.

“Played by lifelong fan Jerry Quy, it would be a terrible shame to lose him. The mascot league is the only one we’ve consistently been on top of, let’s keep our all-time top scorer on top.”

Former players have also spoken up in support of the Gunnersaurus.

Ozil is the club’s highest earner, on a reported £300,000 ($390,000) per week, despite his limited role on the field in recent seasons.

The German has not played a minute for the club since before the coronavirus lockdown in March.

FA Cup winners Arsenal announced in August they were planning to cut 55 jobs due to the damaging effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the club’s finances.

The Premier League club said their main sources of income had all been hit, including broadcast revenue, matchday takings and commercial activity.

It is understood the Gunnersaurus will return when fans are allowed back into stadiums but it is unclear who will be inside the costume.
